Charlotte's homestead is Mecklenburg County; this county has a Friendship Agreement with the German State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. This state is celebrating its 30th Anniversary as part of the new reunified Federal Republic of Germany in 2020.
This was reason for The N.C. Zeitgeist Foundation to get involved with Reinhard von Hennigs, a lawyer in Charlotte who owns an estate and forestry enterprise in the small village Techlin which celebrates its 775th birthday this year. For this occasion, Reinhard von Hennigs organizes an art exhibition in Techlin in the midst of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Based on Charlotte's history and being named after the Princess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who became later the Queen of England as spouse of George III, The N.C. Zeitgeist Foundation participates in the celebrations in Techlin by having invited the Minister-President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Manuela Schwesig to accept the patronage over this exhibition and the Foundation has invited two of the exhibiting artists to be part TEASE – Transatlantic Exhibition of Art in the Southeast 2020.
The title of this year’s artist tour Heimat - Abschied & Rückkehr Homeland – Parting & Return
evokes the situation of the early settlers looking back to their homeland in these early times and as well in today’s times by reconnecting to the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
